I tend to agree with you. However, the problem is that there are no jobs. the solution is not to pay people to sit on the sidelines while we pay other people for “busy work” jobs that don’t contribute to the growth of the economy. We need to create a 21 century economy — something the relics in Congress and the White House can’t wrap their minds around. They are too interested in debating whether child care is infrastructure. It’s not. But nation wide high speed, high bandwidth wifi is. And to exploit that technology we need to reform high schools so they teach basic academic skills like reading, writing and math along with critical thinking. Also, look to building a space technology. We’ve landed on asteroids and brought back samples — why aren’t we bringing asteroids into earth/lunar orbit and mining them for minerals needed automotive batteries. Or maybe to collect solar energy to power the building blocks of a 22nd century economy. Paying productive people to sit around is just a waste of money and productivity.
